NICKERSON, Kan. — The Nickerson USD 309 Board of Education will once again make an attempt to fill two vacant seats during tonight’s meeting.

The South Hutchinson and Reno Valley Seats have been vacant for more than a year now. Attempts to fill the seats have been unsuccessful as the current five member board has rejected any additions time and again.

There are at least two names up for consideration for each seat. Ken and Jane Gamber are both up for consideration for the Reno Valley seat while RJ Wensel and Larry Meadows are up for the South Hutchinson position.

A couple of other items the Board will go over include action on the Nickerson High School daily schedule which will be comprised of seven periods if approved, and the purchase of 150 MacBooks at a cost of $158,850 for teachers and 350 Chromebooks for students at a cost of $98,675.

Tonight’s meeting of the Nickerson School Board begins at 7 p.m. at the Reno Valley Middle School.
