HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Reno County Sheriff’s Department will be hosting a special event Tuesday to benefit Special Olympics. The “Cover the Cruiser” is from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the old K-Mart parking lot.

The Kansas Law Enforcement Torch Run will be collecting donations for the Kansas Special Olympics. Anyone who donates can put a medallion on the Sheriff Department’s BearCat armored tactical vehicle.

The Reno County Sheriff’s Department participates in the Law Enforcement Torch Run effort, in conjunction with national law enforcement agencies throughout the United States, to raise awareness and funding for Special Olympics programs. All proceeds from Tuesday’s event will go towards programming for over 4,800 athletes in Kansas.
