USD 309 to consider contract extension for Stroh

NICKERSON, Kan. — After extending her contract through the end of July, the Nickerson USD 309 School Board will seek approval to extend the contract of interim Superintendent Dr. Jeanne Stroh through the end of September.

Stroh has been filling in for Superintendent Dawn Johnson while she attended military school in Washington, D.C. Johnson completed her stint in Washington but has been ordered by the military to support Army Reserve COVID-19 efforts through the end of September.

Also Monday, the board will seek approval of two major capital improvements to the district’s athletic facilities. That includes going over two proposals for a new running track at the high school and a new football field. The board has been discussing making improvements to the facility for several months.

The board will take action on whether to open up school facilities for public use. Right now, all buildings and facilities are closed to the public because of the pandemic.

Finally, the board will go over all the housekeeping needs to start off the new school year. Monday’s meeting of the Nickerson USD 309 School Board begins at 7 p.m. at the district offices at 4501 W. 4th Ave.
