HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson USD 308 Board of Education will turn its attention to the district’s future leadership during its regular meeting Monday evening.
The board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. at the USD 308 Administration Center, 1520 N. Plum St.
One of the main items on the agenda is a presentation from ESSDACK regarding the district’s superintendent search process. Superintendent Dr. Dawn Johnson has announced plans to retire at the end of the 2026-27 school year.
The presentation is listed as an informational item, with no action scheduled.
The board will also hear the annual report from Lil’ Hawks, USD 308’s early childhood program.
Several items are included on the superintendent’s consent agenda, including renewal of the district’s agreement with Apptegy, its website and communications provider, and a 2026-27 letter of engagement for legal services with attorney Carole DeWald.
The consent agenda also includes grants and gifts to district schools, minutes from the Aug. 24 budget hearing and regular meeting, the July treasurer’s report and August accounts payable.
Monday’s meeting comes three weeks after the board unanimously approved the district’s 2026-27 budget with a property tax rate of 51.364 mills, down 1.06 mills from the previous year.
The approved budget is expected to generate about 1.3% more in local property tax revenue because of higher property valuations, despite the lower mill levy.
Board members are also scheduled to enter executive sessions to discuss matters involving an individual student and personnel. The personnel report is listed for consideration following the executive sessions.
