Police ID Kan. girl who died in pedestrian accident

TOPEKA—Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal pedestrian accident have identified the victim as 16-year-old Stevie Ann Turner of Topeka, according to Lt. Manuel Munoz with Topeka Police.

Just after 5:30 p.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to the 1500 block of NW Lyman Road in Topeka for an accident in which a vehicle struck Turner, according to Lt. Ron Ekis.

EMS transported her to a local hospital for treatment.

The Topeka Police Accident Reconstruction Team responded to investigate the crash. Lyman Rd between NW Lane St. and NW Myrtle Ave. were closed for an extended period of time.

Anyone with information regarding this accident is encouraged to contact police.  Authorities have not released additional details.
