GREAT BEND, Kan. — No. 1 Hutchinson (5-0) now has 42-straight victories dating back to last season's undefeated national championship run.
The Dragons opened the Barton Best Western/Cougar Booster Club Basketball Classic Friday afternoon with an 85-54 victory over Kansas Wesleyan's developmental team.
K-Dub entered the classic after Gogebic County (Michigan) backed out of play earlier this week.
Three Dragons scored in double-digits, led by Dylan Alexander (17) and Brynne Catcher (15) off the bench.
Hailey Jackson tallied 11 points and five rebounds in 23 minutes of action.
Hutchinson shot 50.8% overall from the field, but just 7-of-24 (29.2%) from beyond the arc.
The Dragons gave up the ball only six times, while forcing the Coyotes into 26 turnovers.
Kamryn Rietzke led KWU with 10 points on 3-of-7 shooting.
