McPHERSON — The City of McPherson has received a fifth Transportation Alternative grant for completion of Phase II of the Northview 10-foot trail project.
The grant award — in the amount of $856,351 — was announced last week by Kansas Governor Laura Kelly. The grant is administered by the Kansas Department of Transportation and provides funding for a variety of projects. It was one of 32 grants awarded Thursday across the state.
Phase I of the Northview project, which already is completed, was partially funded through a separate award from the program.
The grant will be used to complete the 10-foot hiking, biking and walking trail from Main Street to East Veranda Circle along Northview Road. It will tie into Phase I, which was constructed from Meadowlark Trail to Main. The TA Grant covers 80 percent of the total construction cost.
It’s the fifth Transportation Alternative Grant awarded to the City of McPherson.
