Kan. teens arrested after hit and run that injured child

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a hit and run accident have made an arrest.

Just after 7:30 m Wednesday,  police witnessed the hit and run accident in the 2700 block of South Meridian, according to officer Charley Davidson.

Witnesses on scene reported seeing two trucks racing southbound on Meridian and one of the trucks striking a 9-year-old child.  EMS transported the child  to an area hospital with serious injuries. The child is expected to survive.

Through follow-up investigation, officers were able to locate both trucks and their drivers. One driver, a 16-year-old boy was booked into the Sedgwick County Juvenile Detention Facility (JDF) on charges of Reckless Driving and No Driver’s License. The

The other driver, a 17-year-old boy, was booked into JDF on charges of Aggravated Battery, Reckless Driving, Hit and Run and Violation of Driver’s License Restrictions.
