HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The City of Hutchinson will be looking for a new Human Relations Director.

Datjaeda Moore offered her resignation to the city on Monday. Moore was on suspension due to what City Manager Jeff Cantrell said were several violations of city policies under the employee handbook. According to Cantrell, Moore was very professional in the matter and did not give specifics on her resignation.

The Human Relations Commission will hold a special meeting this afternoon to address Moore’s resignation. The meeting will include communication from the audience, comments from Cantrell and comments and questions from the commission.

From there, the commission will decide what steps to take to find a replacement for Moore. Moore’s position was recently made full-time after an outside agency provided funding. At that time, Moore’s duties were to expand beyond taking complaints of discrimination and to work in getting the community more involved in dealing with racial and discrimination issues.

Today’s meeting begins at 3:30 p.m. and will be held via Zoom.
