KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Royals activated first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino from the 10-day injured list Friday, less than four weeks after he underwent surgery for a broken right hamate bone.
Pasquantino missed 23 games after suffering the injury last month. He was initially expected to remain sidelined through the All-Star break but returned several weeks ahead of the typical recovery timeline.
Pasquantino played three rehabilitation games with Triple-A Omaha this week before being cleared to rejoin the Royals for their weekend series against the Baltimore Orioles.
The left-handed hitter had started to heat up before the injury, batting .309 with a .397 on-base percentage and a .436 slugging percentage over his previous 14 games.
Pasquantino will look to regain that form as he returns to the middle of Kansas City’s lineup.
The Royals have also recalled outfielder Eli Morgan from Triple-A Omaha, while optioning outfielder Kameron Misner and right-handed pitcher Jose Cuas to Omaha.
