Wichita, KS - The Wichita Wind Surge won their second game in a row over the Arkansas Travelers by a score of 16-12 Wednesday afternoon at Riverfront Stadium, recording their most runs scored this season.
Wichita’s offense set a season high of 21 hits, one shy of their franchise record. The run total was their highest of the season. Matt Wallner and Anthony Prato led the team with four hits each.
Cole Sturgeon got the Surge on the board with a 3-run blast in the first inning. He finished the game 3-for-5 with 3 RBIs.
Chris Williams joined the offensive barrage with an RBI single in second and a 3-run home run in the third inning.
After falling behind the Surge 14-0, the Travelers sent up 14 batters in the fifth inning, scoring nine runs on nine hits. It was most runs the Wind Surge have given up in a single inning this season.
After a late game push from the Travelers, Denny Bentley recorded the win, pitching three innings and giving up one run.
The series continues Thursday with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
