HAVEN, Kan. - The City of Haven announced that it has passed an ordinance that will allow residents to own chickens. The new ordinance takes affect on May 10, 2025. &nbsp;

The city says that before you start planning your backyard coop, make sure that you are aware of the requirements to own chickens in the city limits. &nbsp;&nbsp;

These ordinances include: &nbsp; &nbsp;• Permits: You must obtain the necessary permits from the city &nbsp; &nbsp;• Coop Standards: Standards for size placement and maintenance &nbsp; &nbsp;• Number of Chickens: No more than 6 chickens will be allowed &nbsp; &nbsp;• Roosters: No roosters will be allowed&nbsp;
