
MANHATTAN, Kan. — Purple Reign, Kansas State’s men’s basketball alumni team, will face JHX Hoops, a Kansas alumni team, in a first-round best-of-three series in The Basketball Tournament from July 21-24.
The series will include at least one game at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan and one game at Lee Arena in Topeka.
Game 1 is scheduled for 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, at Bramlage Coliseum and will air on FS1. Game 2 will be played at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Lee Arena, JHX Hoops’ designated home court, and will air on FS2. If a third game is needed, it will be played at 8 p.m. Friday, July 24, at Bramlage Coliseum and streamed on YouTube.
Tickets for the July 21 game at Bramlage Coliseum go on sale at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, through the K-State Athletic Ticket Office. General admission tickets start at $15, with a four-pack available for $50. Chairback seats start at $30, and courtside premium seats are available for $60. The first 200 K-State students will receive free admission.
Tickets for the July 22 game at Lee Arena are available through Hometown Ticketing.
Purple Reign is expected to be led by former Kansas State All-American Michael Beasley. JHX Hoops is expected to be led by former Kansas standout Frank Mason III.
TBT announced a new format Monday, May 18. The annual summer tournament will feature 16 teams, including eight alumni teams and eight non-alumni teams, competing for a winner-take-all $2 million prize.
“We have wanted to see Frank Mason III and Michael Beasley face off for a number of years,” TBT founder and CEO Jon Mugar said. “The $2 million match is going to be electrifying, and exactly what fans will want to see out of summer basketball.”
The winner of the Purple Reign-JHX Hoops series will face the winner of the Wichita State-New Mexico alumni series in a single-game second-round matchup at 8 p.m. Monday, July 27, on FS1.
Other alumni bracket matchups include Kentucky against Louisville and Syracuse against Seton Hall. The alumni bracket championship game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, on FS1.
After the best-of-three opening series, the tournament will return to a single-elimination format. A team will need five wins to claim the $2 million prize.
The eight non-alumni teams will compete in the Las Vegas Bracket, which will be played at M Resort Spa Casino in Las Vegas from July 22-30.
The winner of the Las Vegas Bracket will play the winner of the alumni bracket Sunday, Aug. 2, on FOX at the alumni bracket champion’s home court.
Purple Reign is organized by former Kansas State players Jordan Henriquez-Roberts, D.J. Johnson and Martavious Irving.
