Wichita, KS – Andrew Bechtold blasted the game winning home run in the 10th inning as the Wichita Wind Surge defeated the Arkansas Travelers.
The Surge took the lead early with an RBI double by DeShawn Keirsey Jr, who finished the night 5-5 with four doubles.
Louie Varland started on the mound for Wichita going five and a third innings, giving up three runs and racking up with four strikeouts. He was relieved by Alex Scherff.
Arkansas made a late comeback in the 7th with a grand slam by right fielder Zach DeLoach, followed up by an RBI double from Jake Anchia which tied the game at eight.
The score remained tied until Bechtold’s heroics in the bottom of the 10th which won it for the Surge.
The Wind Surge are now 8-3 in extra-inning games this season
First pitch on Wednesday is at 12:05 p.m.
