Dr. James “Jim” Stout, 92, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Carriage Square rehab and Healthcare Center, St. Joseph, MO.
Jim was born November 1, 1929, in Hutchinson, KS, the son of Murray and Helen (Byrd) Stout. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1947 and received his medical license from Kansas University. On August 10, 1951, he married Margaret Alice “Peggy” Shay in Kansas City. She died on June 7, 1998. He later married Barbara Rose Stein on November 14, 2001 in Hutchinson. She died December 1, 2012. Jim was in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. While in the Army, he did his residency. After serving in the Army, Jim and Margaret moved back to Hutchinson where he co-founded Hutchinson Clinic. He retired in 1986 after 35 years. Jim was an avid golfer, hunter and trap shooter. He loved spending time playing the piano and was a great lover of dogs. He was also a loyal fan of KU and was a member of Kappa Sigma.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Margaret “Peggy” Stout and Barbara Rose Stout.
Jim is survived by his daughters, Sally Tremain and husband Larry, Kelly Roberts and Becky Roberson; sister, Myrna Bowles; 10 grandchildren, Bobby Gadwood and wife Jodalyn, John Gadwood, Beau Gadwood and wife Kim, Sadie Gadwood, Tom Tremain and wife Brittney, Christian Tremain, Tim Tremain, Steven Roberts, Katie Warner, and Addie Warner; nine great grandchildren, Stephanie Kirk, Sheah, Jackson, John, Maddox and Novella Gadwood, Carter and Olivia Gadwood, Noah Warner and Hunter Warner.
A visitation will be 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2022 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel with Pastor Kent Little officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery.
