
VOLUNTEER CENTER OF RENO COUNTY
The Volunteer Center of Reno County, a United Way agency, is a central clearinghouse for volunteer opportunities in Reno County. Area non-profit and governmental organizations have submitted the following requests for help. MEALS ON WHEELS driver and delivery volunteers are needed daily from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Driver and delivery volunteers deliver hot meals in pairs along a designated route to homebound persons. Volunteers pick up the meals from Wesley Towers. There are usually 10 to 15 meals to be delivered on a route. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age, and driver volunteers must have a valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
FEEL FEST ’26 volunteers are needed downtown in front of the Fox Theatre on October 9 and 10. Volunteers are needed on October 9 for set up from 6 p.m.-7 p.m., as a sober bartender helper from 6:30 p.m.-10 p.m. and for tear down from 10 p.m.-11 p.m. Volunteers are needed on October 10 form 8 a.m.-8:45 a.m. to prep for the Remember Run 3K/5K, run the check in booth for the run from 8:30 a.m.-10 a.m., help at water stations from 8:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m., be golf cart drivers from 9 a.m.-12 p.m., and tear down from the race from 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Volunteers are then needed to mark off spaces and lead booths and food trucks to their spots, put up signs, set up generators and prep area for safety from 12 p.m.-1 p.m. Volunteers to either greet or meet volunteers at workshops, run the ticket exchange booth, run the cotton candy machine and run the t-shirt booth are needed from 12:30 p.m.-4:45 p.m. Tear down volunteers are then needed from 4:45 p.m.-5:30 p.m. More volunteers are needed to set up chairs at the Fox Theatre for Q&A session, hand out tickets afterwards and pick up chairs from 6:15 p.m.-8 p.m. Volunteers are needed to run hot cocoa booths, hand out candles, move heavy tree memorial buckets, tear down booths and load tree buckets and clean up from 7 p.m.-9 p.m.
DILLON NATURE CENTER is needing volunteers for the Spook Walk on October 16 and 17 from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. to be parking attendants or guide groups along the trails at the nature center during the event. Volunteers will be on their feet and sometimes on uneven terrain during the event.
FAMILY COMMUNITY THEATRE is looking for volunteers to also help at the Spook Walk October 16 and 17 from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. by running carnival games along the trail. Volunteers will engage Spook Walk attendees, run games, and dress up to be part of the atmosphere of the event.
HUTCHINSON ZOO’s “BOO AT THE ZOO” will be October 24. Volunteers aged 16 and up are needed to help with set up from 10:30 a.m.-12p.m. Volunteers are also needed from 12:30 p.m.-3 p.m. and/or 2:30 p.m.-5 p.m. to assist zoo staff with the mini-farm, run candy to candy stations, work a candy station, help monitor bounce houses or be a train line attendant, or from 5 p.m.-6 p.m. to help with clean up after the event. Volunteers should be able to stand and walk as needed and interact with the public in a courteous manner.
