HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Monarchs rallied in the late innings Saturday at Hobart-Detter Field to defeat the Cheney Diamond Dawgs 3-2.
Trailing 2-0 in the 7th, the Monarchs plated a pair in their half of that inning, then took the lead in the bottom of the 8th when Garrett Anglim scored from second as the Diamond Dawgs turned a double play. The Monarch bullpen then made it hold up.
A solid pitching performance from Travis Perry kept them in it, as he gave up two runs in five and two-thirds innings and struck out five. Skyler Jaco got the win, as he threw three and a third innings of hitless relief.
The Monarchs and Diamond Dawgs are scheduled to meet Monday at Eck Stadium. The game has a 7:30 p.m. first pitch.
