Due to muddy conditions a request was made for a UTV task force from Reno County Fire District 3, 4 and Hutch Fire. Crews were on the scene for over 3 hours. No civilians or firefighters were injured. One structure sustained minor damage. Units from Reno County Fire Districts 3 ,4, 7, 8, 9, Buhler, South Hutch Fire , and Hutch Fire responded to the scene. Pretty Prairie EMS provided rehab for firefighters and the Reno County Sheriff’s Office provided traffic control.

The cause of the fire was a rekindle of a controlled burn of a brush pile that was burned on Saturday 2-22-25 while there was still snow on the ground. If you have burned brush piles in the last month, please check to make sure they are completely extinguished.
