BREAKING: Newton High School lockdown lifted

NEWTON, Kan. — NHS is no longer under lockdown. There is no threat at this time. Staff and students responded correctly to a potentially serious situation. The individual involved with the situation is identified and has been located outside of Newton city limits. Counselors are in place for any students feeling stress from the situation. NHS will continue to be monitored by law enforcement.

Newton law enforcement were on the scene at Newton High School after calls came in about a suspicious person on the grounds. 

According to Harvey County 911, the first call came in around 9:50 a.m.
