Michael ‘Mike’ Duane Bergen |1951-2021|

Michael ‘Mike’ Duane Bergen, 70, passed away December 7, 2021, at his home. He was born August 6, 1951, in Hutchinson, to Lee Elmer and Patricia Louise (Wilson) Bergen.

Mike was a 1969 graduate of Haven High School. He was employed by the Kansas Department of Transporation as a highway maintenance worker, retiring with over 30 years of service. Mike worked as a delivery driver for O’Reilly Auto Parts after retiring, and did some farming.

He was a man who had a strong work ethic who believed in working hard, and was a very routine oriented individual. Mike was a ‘workaholic’, but his family always came first. His most coveted titles in life were son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

On February 21, 1986, Mike married Kelley Kathleen Kleiber, in Hutchinson. They shared over 31 years of marriage, prior to her death on October 7, 2017.

He is survived by: his children, Josh McMillan and Kandi (Ryan) Gregg, both of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Bryson Root, Brody Root, Dylan Gregg, Brinlee McMillan, and Kolan Gregg; sister, Debbie (Jim) Voss of Hutchinson; nieces, Patricia King, Felicia (Marcus) Batiste, and Tishelle Sherart; and nephews, Steven Voss and Marcus Voss.

Mike was preceded in death by: his parents; wife; stepfather, Clayton Parsons; and brothers, Randy Bergen and Terry Bergen.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2021, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Boulevard, Hutchinson, with Pastor Kent Pedersen officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2021, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, December 10, 2021, at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Michael D. Bergen Memorial Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
