🏀 Barber, Smith power Hutchinson women past Murray State College

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Behind career nights from KaMyra Barber and Kaia Smith, the Hutchinson Community College women’s basketball team rolled to an 86-68 victory over Murray State College on Friday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons improved to 4-1, while Murray State dropped to 3-2.

Barber delivered a career-high 23 points, going 9 of 18 from the floor and 5 of 5 at the free-throw line, while adding seven rebounds and five assists. Smith added her own career best with 14 points off the bench.

Noelle Anthon added 15 points on 5 of 7 shooting, including two 3-pointers, and grabbed six rebounds.

Hutchinson set the tone early with a 21-14 first-quarter lead and only trailed for a total of eight seconds the entire game. The Blue Dragons shot 49.3% from the field and assisted on 19 of 33 made baskets. Jaden Wilson added nine points and eight rebounds off the bench.

Murray State’s Jordyn McNeal kept the Aggies within reach, scoring a game-high 22 points and going 11 of 14 at the free-throw line. Emily Steven scored 17, while Aniah Richard added 12.

Hutchinson will close the Hutch Women's Classic on Saturday when it hosts Otero at 4 p.m. in the Sports Arena.
