NEWTON, Kan. — A new survey from Choose Newton Main Street aims to measure how people experience Newton’s downtown and what they’d like to see in the future.
All Newton residents, visitors and business owners are encouraged to take the 10-minute survey at choose-newton.com/survey. Respondents who provide their email address will be entered to win one of four $50 downtown gift cards.
The survey is in preparation for a visit from Kansas Main Street and Main Street America staff in October to help create the local 2025 Transformation Strategy, a plan to revitalize or strengthen the downtown district’s economy.
“The goal is to get community engagement and input for our downtown so that we can set priorities that our community truly sees as the priorities,” said Jen Lehman, the City’s convention & visitors bureau coordinator. “We are hoping to get as many responses as possible.”
The results of the survey will be shared anonymously with the Newton Main Street Board, Kansas Main Street, and Main Street America to assess current needs and set goals for future development.
Newton has been a member of the Kansas Main Street program since 2022. The program offers training, technical assistance, and access to networking and grant opportunities for downtown revitalization.
