HUTCHINSON, Kan. — United We Read is an event that United Way of Reno County is hosting on May 1st from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Gowans Stadium.
The event was created to encourage reading for kids in kindergarten through third grade.
There will be a story walk, May Day crafts, an opportunity to read to therapy dogs and local celebrity readers will be in attendance.
The Hutchinson Public Library will offer free library cards and information on their summer reading program. Every child will leave with a free age-appropriate book while supplies last.
The event is a collaboration between the Hutchinson Public Library, the United Way, the Hutchinson Community Foundation and Smith's Market.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be held at the Salthawk Activity Center.
