HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The top seeded Howard College Hawks erased a seven-point halftime deficit to eliminate the Falcons from Daytona State 96-75. The Hawks started the game out in front, but Daytona State used a 14 to 4 run to pull ahead at the 11:41 mark 24-19.
The Falcons led 49-42 at the half.
The second half was all Howard College. The outscored the Falcons 54-26 in the final 20 minutes of the contest.
Howard was led in scoring by Terry Copeland who had 31 on 18 of 18 shooting, and 5 of 6 from the charity stripe. Three other Hawks were in double figures, Brandon Ivery had 21, Dace Pleasant with 15 and Kuai Deng finished with 13.
For the Falcons, they were led by Tyrese Lacy who shot 7 of 12 from the floor with 3 treys for 17 points. Other Falcons in double figures were Adrian Shackleton with 13, CJ Hall off the bench with 12, Janiel De Los Santos with 11 and Noah Mendy with 10.
The Falcons end their season at 27 and 8. Howard will play the winner of Tuesday's noon game between Butler Community College and Snow College.
