
RENO COUNTY —Two people were injured in an accident just after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Reno County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2014 Freightliner semi driven by 58-year-old Hrach C. Hakopyan of Goodyear, Arizona, was northbound on K-61 six miles northeast of Hutchinson in the right lane. The driver failed to move to the left for a Tow Truck stopped on the right shoulder loading a 2017 Chevy Impala.
The Freightliner driver attempted an avoidance maneuver, entered the ditch and the semi came to rest on its side.
EMS transported Hakopyan and a passenger 30-year-old Edgar Hagopyan of Pacoima, California to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.
The Tow Truck driver, 35-year-old Dustin R. Hendricks of Canton was not transported for treatment. Hagopyan was not wearing a seat belt. He was asleep in the sleeper of the semi.
