Rowena Grace Taylor |1925-2021|

Rowena Grace Taylor, 96, died Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.  She was born June 7, 1925 near Mullinville, Kansas, to Rev. Benjamin and Katherine (Lewis) Ireland.  She was a Hutchinson resident since 1954, eventually moving to Wichita in 2005, where she made her home until her death.

She was a homemaker and was employed at Oil Dealers Supply for 21 years.  She was a member of Big Sisters organization, a volunteer for RSVP and a member of Christian Women's Club at Young at Hearts at Delos Smith Center.

Rowena was a member of Westbrook Baptist Church in Hutchinson, and the Crusader S.S. class.

On June 4, 1945, she married Tech. Sgt. Verle Taylor of the Army Air Corps, WWII., in her father's church in Fowler, Kansas.  He died March 22, 2004.

Survivors include her two sons, Kent (Lois) Taylor of Hutchinson and Douglas Taylor of Ann Arbor, Michigan; two daughters, Janet (Tracy) Shetter of Wichita and Nancy (Steve) Jones of San Jose, California; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister, Naomi (Don) Mueller of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and brother, Jerry (Virginia) Ireland of Roswell, New Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Verle Taylor; parents; brother, Steven Ireland; and sister, Luella Hinkle.

Cremation is planned with memorial services to be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Country Acres Baptist Church, 8810 W 10th St N, Wichita, Kansas 67212.  Private burial will be held at Eastside Cemetery in Hutchinson.  Memorial contributions may be made to Wycliffe Bible Translators in care of Buhler Mortuary, PO Box 589, Buhler, Kansas 67522.
