
William L. Hershberger, 80, passed away Monday, September 7, 2020, at his home in rural Hutchinson. He was born August 30, 1940, in Middlebury, IN, to Levi E. and Lydiann (Miller) Hershberger.
William was a farmer, mechanic, and an avid woodworker. He built his own sawmill and enjoyed making furniture and wooden toys for his grandchildren. William was also an Offender Victim Ministry mentor at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility. He was a member of Center Amish Mennonite Church.
On October 27, 1960, he married Mary Elizabeth Yutzy in Buchanan County, Iowa. They shared almost 60 years of marriage.
William is survived by wife, Mary Elizabeth of rural Hutchinson; children, LeRoy Hershberger, Partridge, KS, RoseAnna Nissley (Mark), of Haven, Miriam Joy Derstine (Mark) of Sanford, NC, David Alan Hershberger (Luann) of Melvern, KS, Regina Kaye Derstine (Trevor) of Culver, OR, Michael Jon Hershberger (Jolene) of Hutchinson, KS, Paul Brian Hershberger (Cynthia), of Partridge, KS, Joseph William Hershberger (Leanna) of Nickerson, KS, and Charity Elizabeth Hershberger of Harrisburg, OR; siblings, Mervin Hershberger (Sarah) of Augusta, WI, Mary Stutzman (Perry) of Delhi, IA, and Viola Lambright of Hazelton, IA; brother-in-law, Roman Raber of Fairbank, IA; 43 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Emma Raber; and great-granddaughter, Molli Beiler.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2020, at Center Amish Mennonite Church, 7611 W. Morgan Avenue, Hutchinson, with Pastors Dwight Miller and Paul Yoder officiating. Burial will follow in West Center Amish Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Center Amish Mennonite Church.
