Ronald D. “Ron” Simmons, was born in 1947, son of Dorothy (Mock) and Earl Simmons. Preceded in death by his parents and wife: Dixie (Cochran) Simmons. Survived by: sons Bradley Simmons/Jasmin Gartland and Ron Simmons/Angie Simmons, daughters Kristen Lepping/Shane Lepping and Trisha Rick/Kevin Rick, 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 2 sisters.

Raised in Hutchinson, Ron moved to Denver and attended Rocky Mountain College of Christ before returning to live in Assaria. He was an active member of the Church of Christ for many years, serving in various capacities.

Ron’s final career was as an over-the-road hauler, and he worked hard to build a custom hauler to take Dixie along to see the states until she was no longer able to travel with him. He traveled the US and into Mexico and Canada, finally settling into retirement in Assaria. He was passionate about auto mechanics, and learning; he was an avid and accomplished hunter and fisherman, and he enjoyed time on his cycles and watching a good car race. He also enjoyed singing, dancing and playing pool; and spent a few years doing family photography. His final years were spent in Salina being cared for by family.

Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2021, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.
