Margaret Coker |1940-2022|

Margaret Coker, 81, of Hutchinson, gained her wings March 10, 2022.  She was born December 12, 1940, to Ivan Paul and Florence (Nolder) Barnett, in Ford, KS. 

Margaret was the oldest daughter in a family of 14, maternal helper, and one of three girls that attempted to control the chaos of 11 extremely wild brothers.  She graduated from Spearville High School in 1960.  Margaret always had a caring heart and worked in different nursing facilities as a CNA and CMA, including Riverview Estates and Bethany Home.  She married Gary P. Coker on December 27, 1967, in Dighton.  He preceded her in death on March 20, 2008.

Margaret was known for her cooking, especially her cinnamon rolls and homemade noodles.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed both card games and dominoes.  Margaret also enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching, and other crafts, but above all her greatest love was her grandchildren. 

Margaret is survived by:  her daughter, Margie Barnes (Phil), Hutchinson; grandchildren, Amanda Philmon (Christopher), Clarksville, TN, Nathan Coker (Deanna), Dearborn Heights, MI, Quinton Barnes, Hutchinson; and Michelle Barnes, Hutchinson; daughter-in-law, Theresa Coker, Dearborn Heights, MI; great- grandchildren, Dylon, Christina, and Preston Philmon, Madelyn and Cameron Coker; brothers, Dave Barnett (Sally), Irwin, PA, Dennis Barnett (Harriet), Jacksonville, FL; Randy Barnett (Brenda), Bar Nunn, WY; Pat Barnett, Wright; and Steve Barnett, Dighton; sisters, Anne Orr, Bartlesville, OK; Sue Torson, Dighton; sisters-in-law, Shirley Barnett, Oklahoma City, OK; Dixie Barnett, Halifax, VA; Tina Barnett, Mountain Home, TX; Theresa Barnett, Spearville; and Roxanna Barnett, Bucklin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Margaret was preceded in death by:  her mother; father; husband; daughter, Laura Renee; brothers, Jim, Richard, Jack, Jerry, Les, and Mike Barnett; sister-in-law, Melva Barnett; and brothers-in-law, Jeff Orr and Rick Torson.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday March 15, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Pastor Randy Barnett officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.
