HUTCHINSON, Kan. — So far, Hurricane Ida has not had a major impact on gas prices.
"If we look at where we were on Monday, Kansas prices on average have gone up about four cents," said Shawn Steward with AAA Kansas. "We're now at $2.92 on average, about the same impact on a national level. We're up three cents since Monday to $3.18 a gallon. It's been relatively limited."
They're still assessing damage to the Louisiana part of the Gulf coast.
"There obviously were refineries and other oil and gas production resources shut down for the hurricane," Steward said. "It's going to take some time to get some of those up and assessed in terms of damage, but then also repairing that damage and getting those up and running."
Right now gasoline supplies are strong.
"We don't anticipate any major or long-term impact to gas prices in terms of large increases at the pumps," Steward said.
Reno County is right at the statewide average as of Friday morning at $2.92 a gallon.
