Today's "Throwback Thursday Collection" takes us to the 1600 block of North Main on the east side.
The northeast corner of 16th and Main was purchased in April of 1920 for a north-end Methodist Church. A frame structure was constructed by the members in only four days and used from September 1923 to October 1926. The Rev. A.E. Henry was the first pastor. The first photo shows that church building in 1923.

They immediately started construction of the permanent brick church on the rest of the block property. The second photo shows the main sanctuary being constructed in 1925.

The third photo shows the original frame church with the brick church rising right behind it.

The permanent church was dedicated in October of 1926. The fourth photo shows that on its opening day.

The trolley car tracks and the electric cables show that the interurbans were still running. Since this time there have been many pastors and many additions to the church, with it taking up the entire block now. The fifth photo shows the Trinity Methodist Church today at 1602 N. Main. The Rev. Craig Hauschild is senior pastor and membership has grown to about 1400.
