HUTCHINSON, Kan - The open house for the new law enforcement center is next week.

"It's been a long time coming, delayed with COVID, but we'll be having our open house for the remodeling of the law enforcement center," said Hutchinson Police Chief Jeff Hooper. "It's on Tuesday, May 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m."

It will be a chance for taxpayers from across Hutchinson and Reno County to see what the renovations look like.

"In the lobby, we'll have popcorn and videos playing there," Hooper said. "We'll have tours that will start through the police department every 15 minutes. Then we'll exit out the back and there will be a display in our back parking lot with our drone, our K-9s. You'll get to meet Stitch, if you haven't already met him, our therapy canine, there. We'll be serving lunch for people with sandwiches, chips and cookies. We invite the public to come and see their newly remodeled police department. We'd be honored to have everybody show up and visit us that day."

Next week was proclaimed as police week as part of Tuesday's City Council meeting in Hutchinson.
