Reno County Toys for Tots Drive Sets Record in 25th Year

RENO COUNTY, Kan. — The 25th Annual Toys for Tots Drive in Reno County has set a new record, thanks to widespread community support and participation from local agencies, businesses and residents.

The Reno County District Attorney’s Office, along with its community partners, announced that this year’s drive collected a record 33 boxes of toys, exceeding all expectations and ensuring hundreds of local children will have a brighter Christmas.

In total, organizers reported the collection of 1,376 toys and one bicycle, along with $40 in cash donations. In addition to toys, donors also contributed a significant number of cold-weather items to help children stay warm during the winter months. Those items included 140 knit hats, four earmuffs, 17 sets of gloves, eight hat-and-glove sets, six blankets and one pair of socks.

“This is what community looks like,” the District Attorney’s Office said in a statement, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the drive’s success.

Several departments and community partners played a major role in the record-breaking effort. Contributions by participating groups included:

  1. City of South Hutchinson ATV Ride – 413
  2. Heartland Credit Union – 71
  3. Hutchinson Police Department – 39
  4.  Reno County Annex – 26
  5. Reno County Courthouse – 89
  6. Reno County DA Office – 30
  7. Reno County Health Department – 11
  8. Reno County Public Works – 222
  9. Reno County Sheriff – 401
  10. Reno County Youth Services – 17
  11. The Highlands – 61

Organizers said every donation made a meaningful difference and helped ensure children across Reno County feel supported and experience the joy of the holiday season.

The Reno County District Attorney’s Office thanked all participants for their generosity and continued support of the Toys for Tots program, calling this year’s drive one of the most successful in its 25-year history.
