HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson High School will celebrate homecoming with a week of activities that includes the annual Alumni Association Wall of Honor ceremony, a community parade and Friday night football at Gowans Stadium.
USD 308 Superintendent Dr. Dawn Johnson said during an interview on the BW Morning Show that homecoming week will include activities for students throughout the week, along with several events for alumni and the community.
The celebration includes the Alumni Association Wall of Honor dinner and reception at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Hutchinson Career and Technical Education building.

Three Hutchinson High School graduates will be added to the Wall of Honor this year: Dr. Daniel Kavanagh, Class of 1958; Alan Fee, Class of 1980; and Frances Garcia, Class of 1956.
“We do this annually,” Johnson said. “This year we are honoring Dr. Daniel Kavanagh, class of 1958; Alan Fee, class of 1980; and Frances Garcia, class of 1956.”
Johnson said the district is looking forward to recognizing the three alumni, including Fee, whom she described as a strong supporter of USD 308.
Tickets for the Wall of Honor dinner and reception are $15 and can be purchased at the Hutchinson High School main office.
Homecoming festivities continue Friday with the traditional parade.
USD 308 students will be dismissed from school one hour early Friday. The homecoming parade begins at 3 p.m. at 14th and Plum and will travel along 11th Street before finishing near the Stringer Fine Arts Center.
“We hope to see folks out for that,” Johnson said. “But just a reminder, students will be getting out early.”
The celebration then shifts to Gowans Stadium Friday evening.
The three Wall of Honor inductees will be recognized at the football game beginning at approximately 6:30 p.m. The homecoming king will be crowned at 6:40, followed by the national anthem at 6:50.Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Johnson said the combination of Spirit Week, the Wall of Honor recognition, parade and football game provides several opportunities for students, alumni and the Hutchinson community to participate in this year's homecoming celebration.
