Reno County Commissioners on Monday approved the next steps in the proposed Salt Lick Golf and Hunting Resort development east of Hutchinson, setting multiple public hearings for next month related to STAR Bond project plans and Community Improvement Districts tied to the project.
During a special meeting, commissioners unanimously approved Resolution 2026-14, which provides notice of a June 24 public hearing to consider adoption of three separate STAR Bond project plans connected to the Salt Lick development. County Counselor Randy Partington told commissioners the hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. June 24.
Commissioners also approved three additional resolutions establishing public hearings for proposed Community Improvement Districts, or CIDs, associated with the project’s phase one, phase two and phase three developments.
Partington explained each CID resolution is tied to a separate phase of the overall development, but all hearings will occur during the same June 24 session.
The board additionally acknowledged an engagement letter with Cruz and Associates regarding sales tax special obligation revenue bonds and CID bonds connected to the Salt Lick Golf and Hunting Resort project.
Partington said the engagement letter formally hires the firm to handle underwriting responsibilities and fulfills disclosure requirements required under state statutes. He noted Cruz and Associates has significant experience working with STAR Bond projects.
Commission Chairman Ron Hurst noted commissioners have already held several previous discussions regarding the proposed development and said additional public input opportunities will be available during next month’s hearings.
