NICKERSON, Kan. — With school buildings closing early last year and classes starting late this year the number of summer meals served by local schools increased dramatically.
In Nickerson USD 309 that was no exception. According to Food Service Director Robin McGlynn, the district served 72,432 breakfasts and 72,432 lunches through August 7th when the program ended.
During the shutdown of school buildings last spring, the district provided meals at various sites around Nickerson, South Hutchinson and Hutchinson and continued the usual summer meal program after school ended.
