HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Reno County area has now recorded 100 deaths from the pandemic.

The Reno County Health Department was notified through the Office of Vital Statistics Death Certificates of the new number. More than half (51) of the reported COVID-19 deaths have occurred in the county in the past 30 days.

The information was delayed in being reported due to offices being closed for the Christmas holiday. Out of respect for the families, the Reno County Health Department will not release any further information about these individuals.

As we continue into the New Year, we all must do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19. It will take each of us doing our part by continuing to be vigilant by washing hands, social distancing by six feet or more, wearing a mask when in public places and staying at home when not feeling well.

It is very important that people continue to follow the guidelines to help decrease the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
