👟 Inman girls win CKTL meet at Moundridge

MOUNDRIDGE, Kan. — Inman claimed the girls team title and Moundridge turned in a strong all-around day on its home track Tuesday at the Central Kansas Track League meet, while Haven was powered by standout distance performances on both the boys and girls sides.

Inman won the girls team championship with 138 points, edging host Moundridge’s 130. Hillsboro was third at 113, followed by Little River with 97, Haven with 17 and Solomon with 16. On the boys side, Little River won the team title with 155 points, while Moundridge finished second with 121. Haven placed third at 84 and Inman was fourth at 77.

Inman’s girls were led by Olivia Brunk, who swept the sprint double with wins in the 100-meter dash in 12.78 seconds and the 200 in 27.09. Brooklyn Black added victories in both hurdles races, taking the 100 hurdles in 16.24 and the 300 hurdles in 49.91. The Teutons also won the 4x100 relay in 51.52 and the 4x400 relay in 4:16.28.

Inman also got a strong day in the throws from Morgan and Taylor Froese. Morgan Froese won the discus at 114 feet, 6 inches, while Taylor Froese was second at 107-4. Taylor Froese placed third in the shot put at 32-9, with Morgan Froese fourth at the same mark. Morgan Froese also took third in the javelin at 97-6. Lily Heflin added a runner-up finish in the 800 at 2:32.84.

Moundridge’s girls nearly matched Inman point for point behind a balanced effort. Halle Hecox won the 400 in 1:03.40, and the Wildcats captured the 4x800 relay in 10:19.68. Haylee Jantz was runner-up in both the 1,600 in 5:56.53 and the 3,200 in 13:04.54, while Abby Kuder placed third in both distance races.

Moundridge also got big points in the field events. Aspyn Stos won the shot put at 35-6 1/2, Cammi Unruh was second in the long jump at 16-8 3/4, and Payton Wilson placed second in the 100 hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles. The Wildcats added a runner-up finish in the girls 4x400 and a third-place finish in the 4x100.

Haven’s girls did not contend in the team race, but still produced several notable finishes. Rilynn Patry was second in the shot put at 34-2 and sixth in the 200. Abby Thalmann finished second in the high jump at 4-4 and seventh in the 1,600. Phoenix Richardson placed fifth in the 100 hurdles and sixth in the 300 hurdles.

On the boys side, Moundridge was especially strong in the field events and hurdles. Heath Churchill won the 300 hurdles in 42.78 and the high jump at 6-2, while also finishing second in the javelin at 140-9. Kaizer Kanitz swept the horizontal jumps, winning the long jump at 20-9 and the triple jump at 43-7. Brayden Elmore added a pole vault title at 11-6.

Moundridge also got a runner-up finish from Dan Kuder in the 800 at 2:05.26 and third-place efforts in the 3,200 and the 4x400 relay. The Wildcats were third in the 4x100 and second in the 4x800.

Inman’s boys were paced by Tyler Martisko, who won the 800 in 2:00.66, and Samuel Brensing, who claimed the 110 hurdles in 15.55. The Teutons also won both the 4x400 relay in 3:39.26 and the 4x800 relay in 8:50.42. Riley Roots finished third in the 1,600 and second in the 3,200, while Malachi Brunk took third in the 100 and third in the 300 hurdles.

Haven’s boys turned in one of the top distance performances of the meet behind Isaiah Doherty, who swept the distance double by winning the 1,600 in 4:46.42 and the 3,200 in 10:41.57. Cole Brawner added a runner-up finish in the 400 at 53.64, while Jayden Idacavage was third and Sadler DeFrain fifth in the same event.

Haven also got strong production from Taeden Espinoza, who was second in the 110 hurdles and fifth in the 300 hurdles, and from Cody Holzrichter, who placed second in both the discus at 139-9 and the shot put at 39-7. Aaron Logan finished fourth in both throws.
