FORD COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a home burglary and have suspects in custody.
Just before 3a.m. February 6, police responded to the 400 block of East Plaza Avenue for an aggravated burglary and battery that had just occurred, according to a media release.
When officers arrived, all suspects had fled the scene. Police learned that that four juvenile boys and one juvenile girl ages 13-15 entered the victim's home without consent and stole items from the residence while the homeowner slept.
The homeowner awoke and confronted one of the boys. However, the boy struck the homeowner and, after a short struggle, was able to get away.
Through investigation, police were able to identify and locate all five suspects and place them under arrest.
All are being held in the Southwest Kansas Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Garden City on requested charges that of Aggravated burglary, theft, and battery.
