HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Board of Reno County Commissioners will be taking a look at the proposed wind farm regulations next week.
"The study session for the wind energy regulations is planned for January 19th at 4 p.m. at the Public Works facility," said Reno County Administrator Randy Partington. "We will have that available on the Reno County Youtube page. Because of the size of the room and COVID restrictions, there won't be any guests allowed, but we will televise for the open meetings."
This will be the first time for new Reno County Commissioner Daniel Friesen to get a close look at the issue. The proposed changes to the regulations have been in the works for several months, after a proposal by NextEra to build a wind farm near Pretty Prairie failed to receive a unanimous vote of the board to allow for a conditional use permit for its construction.
