HAYS, Kan. — Fort Hays State football player Daniel Howard has died. There have not been any details about the death from FHSU officials other than a tweet on the football team's account.

We are deeply saddened to say that we have lost a member of our family, Daniel Howard. We are so grateful to have been able to be a part of his life and he will be missed greatly. Please keep Daniel's family in your prayers as they go through this difficult time.
Howard was a native of Oklahoma City and attended Milwood High School where he was a member of two state championship teams.
After two seasons at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Howard transferred to Fort Hays State where he played in all 11 games and made nine starts at safety this fall. Howard recorded 53 tackles and had one interception.
