Letsepa Prince Madume had quite a debut for the Hutchinson Community College men's cross country last week.
Madume's first collegiate race was the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic last Thursday at Fun Valley. The freshman from Johannesburg, South Africa won the event. Since then, Madume was named the Jayhawk Conference men's Runner of the Week. Then on Tuesday, the Blue Dragon freshman earned NJCAA Division I Men's Cross Country Runner of The Week.
Madume led 5 Blue Dragon runners to finish in the Top 6 to win the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic team title.
Mudame became the third Blue Dragon men's runner to win the Masterson Twilight individual championship. He joins Andrew Kibet (2018) and Cornelius Kogo (2025) as Masterson champions.
Mudame's winning time was 20:02.93, the 13th-fastest time over the Masterson Twilight 4-mile men's course in race history.
He won the race by 25.27 seconds.
This is the second-straight season the Blue Dragon men have had a national runner of the week.
