Police ID Good Samaritan killed at scene of Kan. crash

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Police have identified the woman who was hit and killed while trying to help the victim of an earlier car crash.

Police said Monday that 58-year-old Cynthia M. Goulding of Kansas City, Kansas, came upon the wrecked SUV Sunday and stopped to check on its driver. As she was standing next to the SUV, it was struck again by a pickup truck. Goulding was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV was taken to an area hospital. The driver of the pickup was taken into custody.

JOHNSON COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 3a.m. Sunday in Johnson County.

Kansas City police reported a northbound sedan struck a southbound SUV at  59th Street and Nogard.  The sedan came to rest about a block from the crash. The driver and occupants fled the scene on foot.

A Good Samaritan, identified as a woman in her late 50s, stopped to check on the crash and was standing next to the SUV. A pickup struck the SUV. The impact killed the Good Samaritan, according to KCPD.

EMS transported the driver of the SUV to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police also arrested the pickup driver.  Authorities have not reported an arrest of the sedan driver or released name of the woman who died.
