The NJCAA released its preseason basketball polls on Monday afternoon and the HutchCC men are on the outside looking in at the Top 25, receiving votes.
The Blue Dragons open the season Friday, Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m. in Sedalia, Mo. against the State Fair Community College Roadrunners in the State Fair McDonald's Classic.
Hutchinson returns just one player from last year's 19-12 team. Bobby Cannon is the lone returner, but second-year head coach Kyle Fisher is excited about the group he has brought in.
Defending national champion Trinity Valley (Texas) highlights the preseason poll at No. 1, followed by South Plains (Texas), Daytona State (Fla.), Vincennes (Ind.) and Connors State (Okla.) to round out the Top 5.
Fellow Jayhawk Conference teams in the Top 25 include Coffeyville at No. 8, Cowley at No. 12 and Barton at No. 18. Butler is receiving votes.
