
JACKSON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting say the wounded officer is out of the hospital, according to a social media report from police.
The shooting suspect identified as Aaron C. Pouche, 35, from independence, Missouri died in the exchange of gunfire, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Just before 11:30p.m. Wednesday, Independence police were notified of a person shooting a rifle into a residence on Carlisle Avenue, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol who is in charge of the investigation.
Upon arrival the suspect fired a weapon and one Independence police officer was shot in the head and was transported to the hospital.
The suspect later identified as Pouche was transported to the hospital and subsequently pronounced dead. The initial call was the result of a dispute between neighbors, according to the Patrol. Authorities have not released the name of the officer.
