Ann Lancaster passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Friday July 17, 2020. She was surrounded in love by her four children and husband.
Ann was born on December 16, 1944 near the Great Smokey Mountains in Telford, Tennessee. She was raised on a tobacco farm alongside her sister Jean and brother Rufus. After graduating from Washington College Academy, she attended post-secondary school in Washington DC. Ann later relocated to Kansas where she raised her four children and settled down with the love of her life, Keith Kahrs.
She retired as a buyer for Cargill Salt in 2005 after 23 years of work, where she coined her favorite phrase, “heighth of pissitivity.” Ann was a force to be reckoned with and could not be stopped. During her retirement she enjoyed travelling, spending time with her family, and working at Kroger. However, some of her favorite hobbies included antiquing, going to the casino, cooking, playing the piano by ear, and crafting. Ann will always be remembered for her sass, wit, and spunk. Most people go through life simply existing, but Ann knew how to live.
She is proceeded in death by her mother and father, Ruby and Steve Tipton. Her infant brother David, older brother Rufus, and grandson Tate.
She is survived by her husband Keith Kahrs, her five children: Kim Longacre, Angie Harper, Daemon Lancaster (Marti), Jeremy Karhs (Jennifer), and Meagan Lancaster. Her 10 grandchildren: Cory Longacre, Brian Bernard (Kelsey), Lexi Longacre (Ric), Micaela Garcia, Evan Kahrs, Tyler Brawner, Alexia Lancaster (Jaieden), Emma Garcia, Sydney Lancaster, and Elias Lancaster. Her eight great-grandchildren: Jalen, Kai’son, Aria, Jaydon, Jossilyn, Lucianna, Vaughn IV, and Melina.
A celebration of life for Ann will be held at the Dillion Nature Center Community Room from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. on July 26, 2020. 3002 E 30 th Ave, Hutchinson, KS 67502.
