RENO COUNTY, Kan. — Unaffiliated voters in Reno County will have options when early voting begins for the upcoming primary election on Wednesday, July 15.
Election officials remind voters who are not currently affiliated with a political party that they may choose to affiliate with either the Democratic or Republican Party at the polling location in order to vote in that party's primary.
When checking in to vote, unaffiliated voters can request a party affiliation card from an election worker before receiving a ballot. After completing the card, they will be eligible to cast that party's primary ballot.
Voters who wish to remain unaffiliated may instead request the nonpartisan ballot, which includes the constitutional amendment.
Election officials also noted that voters who are already registered with a political party must vote the ballot associated with their current party affiliation. The deadline to change party affiliation before the primary election has already passed.
Early in-person voting begins Wednesday, July 15, at the Reno County Annex, 125 W. First Ave., in Hutchinson. Voting will be available weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Voters are reminded to bring a valid photo ID when casting their ballot.
