🏊‍♀️ Hutchinson’s Gooch wins, Salthawks place fifth at Campus

HAYSVILLE, Kan. — McPherson edged Hutchinson in the team standings Monday at the Campus High School girls swim meet, finishing third with 239 points while the Salthawks tied for fifth with 200 points. Host Campus was second with 286, just behind Derby’s meet-winning 294.

McPherson was paced by a strong all-around night from Adyson Wiens, who placed third in the 100-yard freestyle in 59.22 seconds and fourth in the 200 individual medley in 2:27.58. Brinnley Robinson added a third-place finish in the 200 freestyle in 2:33.35 and later took fifth in the 500 freestyle in 6:59.47.

The Bullpups also got a runner-up from Ella Schrag in the 100 butterfly in 1:09.36, while their 200 freestyle relay team of Wiens, Mckenzie Dammann, Kaylee Frank and Schrag finished sixth in 1:57.98. McPherson’s 200 medley relay took 10th in 2:24.38.

Hutchinson’s top individual finish came from AJ Gooch, who won the 200 freestyle in 2:12.47 and added a runner-up finish in the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.25. Julianna Stivers placed fourth in the 100 backstroke in 1:14.45 and 10th in the 200 IM in 2:45.95, while Morgan Most took fifth in the 100 freestyle in 1:03.32 and seventh in the 50 freestyle in 28.94.

The Salthawks’ 200 freestyle relay team of Emma Buller, Stivers, Most and Gooch relay team placed fourth in 1:56.54. Hutchinson also tied for 12th in the 200 medley relay at 2:27.58 and was 11th in the 500 freestyle behind Selena Eddington’s 7:51.38.
