Today's "Throwback Thursday Collection" takes us to the northwest corner of 23rd Avenue and North Main.
The first building at this location was built in 1923 and was the Derby Oil Filling Station #8.
By 1929, the building had become the Sam Schneider Oil Company station #2. The first photo shows that corner in 1929 along with The Park Grocery & Cafe at 2305 N. Main, owned by Jack Spaul.

The filling station had a long string of different ownerships, including: J.W. Harrison, 1947; Park Super Service, 1955; Sav-Way Oil, 1958; Bob's Apco, 1959; Lane's Apco, 1961; Strong & Sons Apco, 1963; and Ragsdale Apco, 1965. Shep's Apco was the last of the filling stations from 1966 to 1973.
In 1973, the station was razed and a new building was constructed by Sunderland Construction. In December 1973, Straw Hat Pizza opened.
Since then, food businesses have always been there, including: Rocco's Pizza, 1978-1980; Louie's Supper Club, 1981-1982; Doctor's Zinn, 1983-1985; Donovan's, 1986-1996; and Pastoli's Italian, 1997-2003.
In 2004, El Potrillo opened. The second photo shows the 23rd and Main corner today with El Potrillo still there, owned by Jose and De Ayala, and Maria Zendejas. The photo also shows DentFixers at 2325 N. Main, owned by Jendust Properties.
