Carlene Inez Huffman, 91, of Hutchinson, died July 25, 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born October 21, 1928, in Utica, to Bert Carl and Lola Eunice (McBee) Acuff.

Carlene was a 1946 graduate of Cedaredge High School, Cedaredge, CO, and served as an Air Controlman WAVE 3rd Class, in the United States Navy, from March 1952 to December 1954. She was employed as a clerk for the City of Hutchinson, and retired as a bank teller from Hutchinson National Bank and Trust Company, in July 1985. Carlene volunteered for twenty years at the Cosmosphere International Science Education Center & Space Museum, formerly known as the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Museum. She also was a twenty-year volunteer at the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

On November 21, 1954, Carlene married Douglas Clair Huffman, in Grand Junction, CO. They shared over fifty-six years of marriage, prior to his death on November 8, 2011.

She is survived by her son, Jeff Huffman of Hutchinson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carlene was preceded in death by her parents; son, Terry Huffman; and daughter-in-law, Susie Hornbeck Huffman.

Cremation has taken place. To honor Carleneā€™s wishes, no services are planned.
